Ahhh...Summer of 1996. I thought you were adorable and you thought I was adorable and then we found out we were related...twice. Such a bummer but I still looked forward to seeing you every summer at Manassa Pioneer Days. So sad to see you go...

The Cowboy

By: Kasi McDaniel

Not a cloud in the sky but it feels like it should rain

A hard working man with a loving embrace

The memories of you are greater than the pain

Soft comforting eyes that told the truth

A contagious friendly smile that we loved to see

Not a cloud in the sky but it feels like it should rain

Always knowing what to say when we were feeling low

Amazing friendships made over the years

The memories of you are greater than the pain

Befriending everyone no matter their past

The voice of an angel is what he had

Not a cloud in the sky but it feels like it should rain

That cowboy hat he wore so well

Such a gentlemen no matter what

The memories of you are greater than the pain

I’m just a silly girl who will miss that silly man

I’ll always have these memories of that sweet cowboy

Not a cloud in the sky but it feels like it should rain

The memories of you are greater than the pain

The best memories of my life are those moments I spent with you and your family. The conversations at the dinner table, my first experience operating a skid steer, and making the waitress think we were fighting over the mints when we were really fighting over the bill:) And just so you know i almost had it! And even though my time with you was short I will remember it always. It was the best time I have ever had. Your memory will stay with me forever.
